290 Jobs to be cut from Mt Arthur Coal
EMPLOYEES of Mount Arthur coal mine received an email from BHP Billiton yesterday announcing they will be cutting 290 jobs.
The Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Union also sent a text message to their members confirming they had spoken to BHP management and will be meeting with them today to discuss “how and who will be affected”.
BHP´s Australian chef executive officer Andrew Mackenzie announced late last month that Mount Arthur was struggling posting a half yearly earnings before interest and tax loss of 9 million.
