Murrurundi Water Restrictions

Filed in Recent News by December 16, 2016

THE Upper Hunter Shire Council has placed Murrurundi on water restrictions until further notice, due to algae being detected in the Murrurundi dam.

The town water is still safe to drink, as the towns’ water supply is now being pumped from the Pages River to a chlorination plant and feeding into the water system.

The Council aims to reduce the use of town water by 70 percent while restrictions are in place.

Level 5 water restrictions include:

  • No watering of lawns
  • Watering residential gardens: no use of hand held hoses or non fixed sprinklers. Use microsprays, drip systems and soaker hoses only between 6pm and 8pm on Sundays and Wednesdays.
  • No water to be used for pools, water features, washing exterior surfaces or cars.
