“The Hostel is an integral part of the community, caring for our aged,” said Cr Peebles.

“The staff do a wonderful job looking after the residents, always with the community in mind – encouraging residents to join in with activities and outings,” she said.

“In turn, the residents enjoy the company of young people, students from the schools and visitors alike,” she said.

Cr Peebles said the committee looked forward to continuing to support the continuous improvement of the facility.

“The committee is extremely grateful for the support from the community which is reflected in the fundraising contributions to the Hostel from numerous groups this year.

“These donations have enabled us to purchase new equipment that has significantly improved the wellbeing and safety of our residents and staff.

“Having said that, we are always looking for fresh faces with enthusiastic ideas to complement the committee that’s there and would very much welcome new members,” she said.
