The fire truck valued at $500,000 is second-hand but equipped for fire and rescue with more rescue tools, ropes and cutting equipment.

The new equipment will mean the local fire crew will be able to better assist other emergency services at accidents and an important capability given the distance from other fire crews.

The local crew attend approximately 40 call outs at year within the town limits, plus several call outs to assist other crews and other services.

The crew said the new truck will get them over the Range much quicker and they are looking forward to the new station which will be built behind the existing fire station.

More than $900,000 will be spent building the new station and purchasing land around the existing station.

Building is due to begin at the end of July.

If you would like to help the community by becoming a member of the local fire brigade you can find more information about the positions on the Work for NSW website.
