NSW Police has launched a new online ap to help make contacting the police for non-emergency reports easier and local police encourage residents to use the new community portal.

“We are always available on the phone for the community to reach us, but for non-urgent matters some people prefer to contact us online in their own time and that is where the new online portal works well,” said Inspector Buggy.

“The Police are keeping pace with the range of social media tools to reach all members of our community and locally we have found our Facebook page is a great tool for getting important messages out to our local community, but it is critical people understand we don’t monitor Facebook and social media for crime to be reported there,” he said.

“Most people call us at the Muswellbrook station, which is fine but depending on how much is going on at the front desk it is often quicker to call the police assistance line, which has plenty of staff available and they can log the job for us straight away,” he said.

“If people want to contact us anonymously they can call Crime Stoppers,” Shane Buggy said.
