New Scone Golf Course: Teeing-Off Saturday

Filed in Recent News by May 23, 2019

FIRST tee-off at the new Scone Golf Course will be on Saturday with members of the Club getting first round.

Mayor Wayne Bedggood said he was pleased loyal members of the Club would play first.

“Many local golfers have been deeply involved in planning the new course over a number of years and we thank them for their patience while the course build has been underway,” said Mayor Bedggood.

On Sunday, the course will be open to everyone and for one week of free golfing.

The course was deemed to be at practical completion yesterday, by the contractor McMahons Golf and management of the course was formally handed to the Upper Hunter Shire Council.

The new $4million course was funded by Roads and Maritime Services, following the impact of the new bypass on the old course and now features a fully automated irrigation system, on site bore and two enlarged ponds storing treated water, natural features such as gullies, mature Red River Gums, and thousands of plants to improve the diversity and ecology of the site.

The Council will soon call for Expressions of Interest to manage and maintain the new course.

COURSE FEES:

  • 9 holes – adults $15, juniors (under 18 years) $5, Pensioners and Concession Card Holders $10.
  • 18 holes – adults $25, juniors $10, Pensioners and Concession Card Holders $15.

There is a ticketing machine at the 1st hole which accepts cards and cash.
