NOMINATIONS for local government elections opened today and will close on August 10 at midday.

Steve Pryor, director of corporate and community services at the Upper Hunter Shire Council said candidates can submit their forms and money to his attention at Council, or can take it to the returning officer in Muswellbrook.

“All of the details for nominating and the rules around a campaign are on the Vote New South Wales website,” said Mr Pryor.

“If a candidate is running as an individual they need to have two people who are registered to vote sign their form and if it is a candidate for a political party there is a different form for that,” he said.

“There are very strict rules around a campaign, but the main one is to keep separate baking details on all funds going in an out, the information on the government website goes into all of that detail,” he said.

“Also if any candidates have any question about funding and disclosure they can phone the Funding Disclosure and Compliance helpline on 1300 022 011,” Steve Pryor said.

Residents are also reminded to ensure their voting details are current for the local government elections to be held on September 10: NSW Enrolment Verification Facility.

The Returning Officer in Muswellbrook is Kathy Kennedy:
