Nominees for Australia Day

THE nominees in line for an Australia Day Awards were announced by the Upper Hunter Shire Council yesterday.

The awards for this year include Community Group, Citizen and Young Citizen, Achiever and Young Achiever for citizens in the Aberdeen, Murrurundi, Merriwa and Scone communities.

In Scone and Murrurundi there are also awards for Sports Achievers and in Merriwa there are awards for Sustainability in Business and Environmental Achievement.

The local Australia Day Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen, are chosen from the town winners.
