Pampering and Support

Filed in Recent News by April 9, 2018

FREE haircuts, blow-dries, pedicures and massages will be on offer at the Senior Citizens Hall on Wednesday, thanks to the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre.

“Anyone that is finding life a little tough at the moment, phone staff or call in at the Centre to book into a little bit of pampering,” said Lee Watts, manager of the Centre.

‘There are also some families that have to weigh up what to pay out each month and may miss out on a long overdue haircut so their children can take lunch to school,” she said.

“With increasing costs to households there are more and more people struggling and as a community with a strong sense of fairness and one that is supportive of our fellow human beings, we should all be doing our level best to address this growing problem.

“And a big part of doing that is raising awareness of how widespread these issues are we as a community need to understand that this is often a situation that people find themselves in through no fault of their own,”she said.

“We want people in our community to know they are not alone and there are services ready to assist during their hardship,” Lee Watts said.

There will be more than 20 support services available on the day including Scone Discount Pharmacy, Financial Counsellor, Youth Services, Children Services, Compass Housing, Joplin Lawyers, Hunter Tenants Service, Dawson & Dawson Realty, Joblink, APM Youth Employment and Librarian.

Businesses supporting the day include: Rachel’s Hair & beauty, Pepper’s Hairdressing, Boutique Beauty by Sherryn and Karen’ for Feet.
