The pilot of the plane, Peter McInerney said he over corrected after landing and the plane went onto the grass.

“It is the first time I have flown this plane and Ross Pay was in the back, I’d went to correct and over corrected and gone onto the grass and it ground looped,” said Mr McInerney.

Ross Pay who owns the aircraft and was in the plane said the recent wet weather was a factor.

“Because the ground is so soft the plane did a ground loop, if it hadn’t been for the wet weather the plane would have been fine,” said Mr Pay.

“We’ll put in a report to the ATSB (Australian Transport Safety Bureau), but the main thing is no one was hurt,” said Ross Pay.

The plane sustained damage to the landing gear and the left wing.
