Vehicle Defect

POLICE report they were called to the Scone Saleyards in Muffett Street Scone yesterday at 12:40 after a 24 year old male from Scone had parked in the area and had been in the toilets for more than an hour.

Police were notified by staff that the male was moved on several days ago by police for the same reasons.

Police entered the toilet block and immediately recognised the male due to several police interactions and vehicle searches.

The man was questioned as to what he was doing there to which he informed police that he was homeless and was using the toilet.

Police said they checked in the toilet cubicle and sighted an empty clear resealable bag that they believed be may used for drugs.

The male is well known to police for drug use and property theft and was questioned in relation to the bag to which he denied any knowledge.

The man looked untidy and had multiple sores on his arms consistent with drug use.

Police informed the man they believed that he was in the area for drug usage and were going to search him and his vehicle.

The man was searched but police found nothing.

Police searched the man’s vehicle, a gold Ford Falcon and located a wheel brace in the drivers side door pocket.

The man was reminded that he was informed by police last time he was searched and had wheel braces in the foot well that they can be seen as a weapon or offensive implement and need to be stored in the boot where they belong.

The vehicle was searched for possible defects where the battery was seen to be not secured and could move freely throughout the engine bay.

The man was issued a defect notice and infringement for Use Vehicle not comply with standard.
