THE Scone Uniting Church will host world prayer day on Friday, March 2 at 7pm.

Prayer day is celebrated in more than 170 countries on the first Friday in March and led by Christian women who welcome the community to join in prayer and action for peace and justice.

This year the country of focus is the Republic of Suriname, which is in the north-eastern part of South America.

The country has more than 540,000 inhabitants, has diverse natural beauty flora, mountains and rivers and mining of both bauxite and gold, but also struggles with violence against women and child exploitation.

If you would like to learn more about this small country please come along  and join in with others  at 7pm on Friday, March 2 at St Andrews Uniting Church, Scone. Following the service, supper will be served.
