PLANS for the Premier of New South Wales, Gladys Berejiklian to visit Scone this morning and make an announcement were changed and the media conference will now occur in Dubbo.

Some local residents were hoping to ask the Premier questions of their own including state funding for drought relief, regional water infrastructure support, town revitalisation costs and the bypass.

John Preston, candidate for the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers party said he was disappointed the Premier had snubbed the people of the Upper Hunter.

“Obviously she doesn’t want to hear about high priced residential water, lack of drought assistance, poor roads and poor schools,” said Mr Preston.

“The Premier has decided she has better things to do today and she has snubbed the people of the Upper Hunter,” he said.

“Thousands of residents from Merriwa to Scone have watched their water bills soar have petitioned and wanted to meet the Premier today but she decided not to come here today,” John Preston said.
