“Prices Slashed” in Aberdeen

Filed in Recent News by September 27, 2018

LOCAL real estate agents are questioning if Upper Hunter Shire Council has any due process for selling land in the Shire, following an exclusive listing of land in Aberdeen despite Council’s previous assurances to local agents that there would be a fair and transparent process.

The land in Perth Street, Aberdeen is listed on www.realestate.com.au by Warburton’s and the prices for the land described as “slashed”.

Last month local real estate agents received a letter from Council saying their agreements to sell the Council owned land were terminated and the land sale had been given to an exclusive agent.

However, Council then back-flipped saying the letter was incorrect, the land had not been given to an exclusive agent, that Council would adhere to its policy of a minimum of two agents to sell the land and after the matter was taken to the Council’s Land Committee all real estate agents would have the opportunity to apply to be an agent for the land sale.

The local agents and scone.com.au have asked Council for an explanation on what process has occurred.
