AUSTRALIA Day is already on the minds of the Upper Hunter Cricket Association as they prepare for their annual gala day.

Mac Dawson, vice president of the Association said it is a fun day that celebrates Australian back yard cricket on a bigger scale.

“One year our team all dressed as Steve Irwin, we all wore khaki shorts and shirts, with a blow up crocodile named Eric, he was on the field with us,” said Mr Dawson.

“It’s basically what you play in the backyard but on a full field ground and very social with BBQ, music, a few drinks and plenty of laughs,” he said.

“It’s open to everyone whether you’ve ever played a game of cricket in your life,

“I remember playing when I was in year 8 and children as young as 8 or 10 and everyone up can play,” Mac Dawson said.

  • WHEN: 9am, Australia Day, January 26, 2018
  • WHERE: Bill Rose Complex, Kingdon Street, Scone.
