Some Short Rain Relief

Filed in Recent News by September 7, 2018

THE Bureau of Meteorology recorded the following rainfalls in the 24 hours until 9am this morning:

  • Scone 4.4ml
  • Aberdeen 4.2ml
  • Merriwa 16ml
  • Cassilis 11ml
  • Moonan 1.6ml
  • Murrurundi 5.4ml

Showers will continue today and there is the chance of thunderstorms through the Upper Hunter which could bring some heavier falls.

However, the Bureau cautioned that thunderstorms are hit and miss in terms of rainfall, where some areas may get into the teens of milimetres, whereas others close by may not get much at all.

The rain has been triggered by an inland trough which is moving east, bringing more rain today and lingering tomorrow morning, before continuing to push off to the east later in the day.

Into next week there will be a high pressure system over New South Wales returning the state to dry conditions.
