Rain Forecast: Better than Nothing…

Filed in Recent News by August 24, 2018

THE Bureau of Meteorology has advised while there is the likelihood of rain this weekend, most of the rainfall is expected on the north-west slopes and plains will be blocked by the Liverpool Range.

There is a low pressure system currently over South Australia currently tracking across the north of the state which will generate some rainfall which will start near the Queensland boarder later today.

In terms of the rainfall in the Upper Hunter, because it is on the other side of the Range it will essentially be blocked by the topography there, but we are still expecting some rainfall in the Upper Hunter.

At this stage it looks like a couple of millimetres and in some places up to 10 or 15 mls.

The rainfall in the Upper Hunter looks to be developing in the morning and developing late afternoon into the early evening.

There is also a risk of thunderstorm activity which could generate 20 mls, but the storms are isolated and it will be hit and miss where the rain will fall and more likely to be 2 to 10 mls.

The showers will continue on Sunday, clearing in the afternoon.
