Rainfalls and Outlook

Filed in Recent News by December 13, 2018

THE Bureau of Meteorology has recorded the following rainfalls in the Upper Hunter in the past 24 hours until 9am this morning:

  • Scone: 3.8ml
  • Murrurundi: 3ml
  • Merriwa: 20ml
  • Aberdeen: 4ml
  • Cassilis: 22ml

The larger readings in Merriwa and Cassilis were due to storm activity in the area.

Today the Bureau is predicting shower activity which will develop throughout the day with thunderstorms expected in the afternoon into the evening.

There is the potential for severe storms today bringing heavy rain, strong winds or hail and while the Bureau has not issued any warnings they are continuing to monitor the situation.

On Friday there is also a chance of thunderstorms and a chance of light showers on the weekend.

The moisture is streaming down from the north from tropical cyclone Owen and it will depend on the cyclones behaviour as to how far down the moisture reaches into New South Wales and the Upper Hunter.
