Records Exceeded at Scone Sales

THE record price for the sale of a yearling in Scone was broken yesterday when a Duporth filly by Extreme, a half sister to the Blue Diamond winner Extreme Choice, sold for $105,000.

The previous sale record was set in 2008 for $100,000 and overall sale prices were up by 37 percent to an average of $15,147.

The leading individual buyer, for the fifth consecutive year, was trainer Paul Perry who signed for six lots valued at $191,000.

“There are always good horses that come out for this sale, that’s why we come back year after year,” said Mr Perry.

“We’ve picked up some nice horses again and hopefully they are the ones that come out on top when they hit the track,” Paul Perry said.

The buying bench included people from throughout New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Northern Territory, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines.

Ten lots sold of more than $50,000, there was an 87 percent clearance rate and the sale grossed $2,605,250.
