Recycling Changes

Filed in Recent News by January 17, 2017

RESIDENTS are no longer able to drop off recycling bins at the Upper Hunter Shire Council Equipment Depot on the corner of Noblet Road and Susan Street in Scone due to the high-rate of non-recyclables being dumped.

Instead residents will need to take them to the main waste depot, also on Noblet Road, where paper, glass and plastic recycling bins are available near the weighbridge.

The recycling facilities are open 8am until 5pm on weekdays and 9am until 5pm on weekends.

Recyclable items include:

  • glass bottles and jars;
  • plastic containers, such as from soft drinks, milk, ice-cream, margarine and yoghurt;
  • aluminium, such as soft drink cans and foil trays;
  • newspapers, paper, magazines;
  • cardboard, and
  • steel cans.

Non-recyclable items include:

  • plastic wrap;
  • clothes;
  • toys;
  • furniture;
  • car parts;
  • sharps – needles and  syringes;
  • foam rubber;
  • nappies – even if there is a recycling symbol on the box, and
  • white goods such as toasters.
