THE Scone community gathered this morning to remember the cease fire of World War I marking the 100 year anniversary of the war to end all wars.

Vietnam veteran, Bruce Brown led the service and recounted the stories of his great uncles who served on the western front during the war. Related story: Two Brothers Remembered.

Reverand Merve Wearne led the prayer, Mia Kellaher sung the recessional, Mayor Bedggood gave an address, wreaths were laid, George Clementson read the Ode and the bagpies were played by the Scone RSL pipes and drums band.

Of special note was the presence of Betty Widdrington Hickey (nee Lee) who made the journey from Tamworth to be at the Scone service in honour of her uncle, who was from Scone and died at Lone Pine. Related story: A Return to Honour Family.
