Rio Feel at this Year’s Parade

THE streets of Scone were once again packed with onlookers for the Horse Festival parade and this year the theme was Horses go to Rio, in celebration of the Olympics.

Lee Watts, president of the Scone and Upper Hunter Horse Festival Parade was glad to see the crowd and participants had a great time.

“The theme was well received and so many people went to great effort to inject a lot of colour and energy into this years parade,” she said.

“The Samba Brazilian Entertainment dancers and drummers were a special highlight,” Lee Watts said.

The winners and highly commended in the parade this year included:

  • Best Float: Scone and District Preschool; Highly commended: Noeline Black and Beryl Bates;
  • Best Horse Stud: Godolphin;
  • Best Equine Entry: St Joseph’s High School Equestrian Team;
  • Best School: Yellow Cottage, and
  • Best Junior Rider: Hayley Clarke and Taylor Clarke.
