Filed in Recent News by June 5, 2016

THE Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre  Virtual Shed project are hosting a virtual shed tour to the Riverboat Postman on the Hawkesbury River on Wednesday August 3.

The Hawkesbury mail boat, better known as Riverboat Postman, is a working mail delivery vessel that also has turned the history of the mail run into something everyone can enjoy while cruising on the beautiful lower Hawkesbury River.

The first Riverboat Postman mail run started in 1910 and continues today as a going mail delivery platform.

On the boat skippers from past days who have lived in the area their whole lives, will entertain you with their stories while cruising in comfort and delivering mail to Dangar and Milson Islands, Kangaroo Point, Bar Point, Marlow Creek, Fisherman’s Point and Milson’s Passage before returning to Brooklyn.

Bookings are essential and can be made at the Scone Neighbourhood Centre at 130 Liverpool Street, Scone.

Lunch and morning tea is included for a small donation of ten dollars.

The Bus will depart Murrurundi at 6.00am, Scone Railway Station at 6.30am and Aberdeen 6.50am returning around 4.30pm.

The project is funded for men through the Department of Social Services to improve the lives of rural men through information, resources and programs.
