Roads Closed and Rivers Rising

THE Dartbrook Road between the New England Highway and Nandowra Road has water over it following the river breaking its banks.

Council has placed water over road signs and drivers are cautioned to drive with care.

Other rivers around the Shire are currently at greater than 80 percent flow including parts of the Hunter River, Moonan Brook, Rouchel Brook, the Pages River, Dartbrook, Kingdon Ponds and the Isis River.

Local SES have advised a livestock and equipment warning is expected to be issued for the region.

The Upper Hunter Shire Council has advised the following is closed due to flooding:

  • Satur Road footpath at Parson’s Gully’
  • Green Creek Crossing, Timor;
  • both crossing at Murrurundi;
  • Cressfield crossing and
  • all sporting grounds in Aberdeen, Scone, Murrurundi and Merriwa number 1 and 2 ovals.

The Bureau of Meteorology has said the rain is on its way out and will be gradually easing this evening.
