Scone Art Prize Opens Tonight

ORGANISERS are excited to have more than 280 works of art for the Scone Art Prize opening tonight.

Roger Skinner said the number and quality of works surpassed their expectations.

“We are extremely pleased with the numbers and the quality of work more so,” said Mr Skinner.

“The show as a whole looks really terrific and we all can’t wait for the judge’s Trevor Weekes’ decision which will be announced on Friday night September 9 at Scone Arts and Crafts Centre,” he said.

“A great group of about 18 volunteers hung the show last Saturday from 8.30am til 3.00pm,” he said.

“The sculptural component is up on last year as are the open section,” Roger Skinner said.

The sections of the prize include:

  • Open The Bobbie Paradise Award – 92 works
  • Figurative and Portraiture – 24 works
  • Watercolour – 23 works
  • Print Drawing – 35 works
  • Miniature – 39 works
  • Pastel – 21 works
  • Local – 31 works
  • Sculpture – 12 works
  • Ceramics – 4 works

Opening night:

  • When: 6:30 pm, Friday, September 9.
  • Admission: $15 per adult.
  • Where: Scone Arts and Crafts Centre, Kingdon Street, Scone.

Exhibition:

  • When: 10am – 4pm September 10 – 17 and 10am – 1pm September 18.
  • Admission: $2
  • Where: Scone Arts and Crafts Centre, Kingdon Street, Scone.
