Scone Golf: Apr 14-16

Scone golfers played an 18 Hole Stableford for the Steve Morse, Alan Wood and Col Solway Trophy yesterday.

Jeff Harrington won A Grade on 38 points on a countback from Warren Styles.

Col Solway won B Grade with the best score of the day of 40 points, whilst in C Grade Kevin Thompson also won on a countback from John Kevans when they both had 39 points.

The NTP on the 2nd / 11th was won by Sean Constable 2.0 metres and on the 8th / 17th by Alan Wood 4.71 metres.

The ball winners were: Col Solway 40, Kevin Thompson, Matt Langan, John Kevans, Alan Wood 39, George Davidson, Jeff Harrington, Warren Styles 38, Ben Cassidy, David Druce 36, Joel Woods, Mick Alsleben, Mark Hayes and Jim Elder all on 35 on a countback.

It was also round 1 of the Isis Motel FBBB Championships in A, B and C Grades with the results in this being very close.

The leaders are: A Grade: Jeff Harrington and Steve Morse 70; Ross Banks & Warren Styles 71; B Grade: Alan Wood and Tony O’Neill 75; Col Solway and Matt Langan 76; C Grade: Gary Taylor and Trevor Wilson 88; Les Cottam and Red Palmer 89.

Round 2 will be played on April 30.

On Saturday, April 23 an 18 Hole Stableford for the Field Family Trophy will be played.

It will include a special division for the over 65 years of age category of players.

It will also be Round 2 of the President’s Trophy.

Players are reminded that the first round of the Kevans Knockout must be played by May 7.


Scone Ladies Golf

In Scone ladies golf it has been a big week for Julie Leckie who had two wins with identical scores of 41 points!

On Thursday, April 14, the ladies played an 18 Hole Stableford for a Scone Sporties Trophy in ideal golfing conditions.

The runner up was June Jukes with 38 points and balls went to Julie Leckie 41, June Jukes 38, Noreen Marshall 37, Ann Cameron and Sue Watts 35.

Ann won the NTP on the 17th at 5.85 metres.

On Saturday, April 16, Julie Leckie had the best score of the six players with another 41 points. Kerry McLennan also had a good score of 38 to win a ball along with Lyn Banks 36 and Wendy Clift 31.

On Monday, April 18 the ladies pennant team play Aberdeen at the resort course of Cypress Lakes in the fifth round of the Hunter River District event.

On Thursday, April 21 an 18 Hole Stableford for the Royal Hotel Trophy will be played by the ladies. In other golfing options the “9’s Enough” and the usual Saturday comp are available.
