Scone Golf Club Presentation 2016

The achievements of Scone Golfers during the 2016 season were celebrated at the Annual Presentation Night on Saturday night at Scone Sporties.

On display awaiting presentation to the current title holders, was the large array of splendid trophies, containing the history of previous winners from Scone Golf Club.

Those in attendance had an enjoyable evening.

Along with the presentation of prizes, valued members Pam and Charlie Manning, were recognised for their continuous efforts on the course, being named joint winners of the Club Person of the Year.

The men’s major event winners were: Club Championships, A Grade Mac Dawson, B Grade David Druce, C Grade David Adams and Senior Mick Alsleben.

The Bob Rose Matchplay Championships went to A Grade Clayton Rogers, B Grade Brad Hockley and C Grade Kevin Thompson.

Wayne Hedley was the 6th player in 44 years to win the coveted Kevans Knockout for the second time, and he also won the Ray Weekes Cup for the best nett in the Championships.

Other nett winners in grades for the Championships were: Cleve Bettens Memorial Shield (A Grade), Clayton Rogers; Les Cottam Shield (B Grade), David Druce; Peter Marshall Shield (C Grade), Red Palmer and the Reg Stanford Shield (Senior), David Adams.

The Isis Motel FBBB Championships were won by A Grade Steve Morse & Jeff Harrington, B Grade by Phil McGuirk and George Davidson and in C Grade by Tom and Kevin Thompson.

In the challenging game of foursomes the Championship winners were: A Grade Jake Teague & Troy Collison, B Grade George and Michael Davidson and C Grade Kevin Thompson and Les Cottam.

The Mixed Foursomes Championship was won by Ross and Lyn Banks.

The Snyman Fourball Knockout was won by Geoff Ferguson and Andy Phelps.

In other events the following players were the winners:

R.J. Lowrie Cup, Jeff Harrington; The Mug of Mugs, Troy Collison; The Summer Shield,  Scott Shann; the Mal Bruce Shield (Summer knockout) Tony Bowd; The Summer Cup, George Davidson; the Winter Cup, Brad Hockley; the Captain’s Trophy, John Roe and the President’s Trophy, Jim Elder.

The ladies main trophy winners were: Club Championship and Division 1 winner Lyn Banks; Division 2 Champion Noreen Marshall and Division 3 Champion Judy Carmody.

The highly sought after Jean Byrnes Salver for the best nett score in the Championships was won by Julie Leckie by one shot from divisional winners Noreen Marshall and Sarah Brooks.

Each of these players won a daily nett prize for a round of the championships, Julie in round one gained the Scone RSL Trophy, Noreen in round two gained the Scone Newsagency Trophy and Sarah in Round 3 gained the Sue and Alan Watts Trophy.

Sarah also won the Ruth Stanford Trophy for the best nett score on the Scone course of 63, and also the Captain’s Trophy for the most reduction in handicap.

Noreen also won the Doris Ham Memorial Trophy for the Veterans’ nett in the Championships.

The Foursomes Championships were won by Ann Cameron and Sue Watts for the second time together and they also took out the nett event.

Narelle Rutter won the Medal of Medals playoff for the Melanie’s Jeweller Trophy along with the Dr Pye Pointscore for the season.

Appreciation is extended to all the sponsors of Scone Golf who provided many of the prizes, and to the playing membership for their support of golf during the season.
