Scone Golf: July 14 – 17

ON Saturday, July 16 the men golfers played an 18 Hole 2B 2 Digit Stableford with an individual in conjunction.

20140514Golf01In this event the players record the lowest score of the pair as the first digit, and the highest score as the second digit on each hole.

The aggregate of the 18 holes is then determined for the overall score.

The winners of the James and Justin Smart Trophy were Mick Alsleben and George Davidson who had 372 points.

In second place were Mark Hayes and Adam Russell 333, with third going to Stuart Dawson and Jim Elder, 322 points.

Guy Wilkinson had the best round of the day with a fabulous 47 points but this only gained him a ball.

Other ball winners were: Mick Alsleben 41, Mark Hayes 40, Russell Nicholls 38, Jeff Harrington, Trevor Wilson, Stuart Dawson 37, David Bradshaw, Gordon Halliday 36, M. McKechnie 35, George Campbell, Gary Taylor, Jim Elder and Geoff Ferguson all on 34.

Jack Tilse scored a jackpot of 4 balls for his shot to 0.47 metres on the 2nd / 11th nearest the pin and Justin Smart won the 8th / 17th at 3.16 metres.

A popular social ambrose afternoon was held on Sunday, July 17.

Team Casson were the winners with 28 and 5/8ths nett.

The next event is scheduled for August 21.

On Saturday, July 23, an 18 Hole Stableford will be played on the Was Whyte and Herb Tilse Memorial Day for the Jack Tilse Trophy.

It will also be round2 of the R. J. Lowrie Cup.

The Merriwa Open on Sunday, July 24 should attract a few of the Scone travellers to support their day.

Round 4 matches of the Kevans Knockout must be played by August 6.

On Thursday, July 14, the ladies played an 18 Hole Stableford for the Sally Archibald Trophy in crisp early morning conditions.

The winner was Ann Cameron who had 36 points and was closely followed by Kathy Robinson on 35 as runner up.

These two and Jo Brown, 33 points, were in the ball winners.
