Scone Golf: July 28 – 30

ON Thursday, July 28 at Scone the lady golfers played an 18 Hole Stableford in ideal conditions for Doon MacCallum’s Trophy.

Gael Holland showed the benefits of her new clubs and had a great round of 40 points to be the winner.

Jo Brown was runner up with 37 points and balls went to those two players plus Sue Watts 34, Marie Murray 33, Fiona Groom and Kathy Robinson 32.

Sue also collected a ball for the NTP on the 17th and Marie Murray 6 balls for her birdie on the 2nd hole.

On August 4 the ladies will play an 18 Hole 4BBB Par with an individual in conjunction for the Ann Cameron and Cheryl Clydsdale Trophy and it is the GNSW qualifying round.

Entries are now being called for the ladies Club Championships to be played as 3 stroke rounds in 3 divisions.

Players will be competing for scratch events in each division, nett prizes in each division including the overall nett, the Veteran’s trophy and for daily nett trophies.

Round 1 will be played on Thursday August 11 for the Scone RSL Group Trophy followed by round 2 on Sunday August 14 for the Scone Newsagency Trophy, before concluding with the Sue and Alan Watts Trophy and final round on Thursday August 18; a good field is expected to contest each division.

Saturday, July 30 was another good day for golf when the men played an 18 Hole Ambrose Stableford for Liz and Paul Smart’s Trophy.

In this new event the winning score was 51 points by Jeff Harrington and Tony O’Neill.

The runners up were Brad Hockley and Brenan Reeves who had 47 points to win on a countback.

Ball winners were: Adam Brayshaw and Michael Burke 47, George Davidson and Mick Alsleben 46, Matt Langan and Geoff Barton 46, Scott Reid and Guy Wilkinson 45, Scott Lye and Paul Smart 44, Lindsay Hodge and Andy Thrift 43, Charlie Manning and Gordon Halliday 43, Alan Wood and Steve Morse 42 points.

The NTP on the 2nd / 11th was won by Gary Brown at 2.51 metres and on the 8th / 17th by Jeff Harrington, 3.46 metres.

In the ladies 18 Hole Stableford a few headed out in the crisp morning with Kerry McLennan having 31 points to be the winner.

Saturday, August 6 will be an 18 Hole Stroke / Stableford for the Scone RSL Group Monthly Mug.
