Scone Golf: June 23-25-26

Last Saturday at Scone Golf Course the men played an 18 Hole Stableford for the Tony Bowd and Mark Hayes Trophy.

It was tough going with little run on the course. The overall winner was Clayton Rogers who had two over par to finish with a great score of 42 points.

In A Grade a countback was needed to decide the winner with David Walters just edging out Jeff Harrington when they both finished with 35 points.

Brad Hockley also had 35 points to win B Grade. Whilst the C Grade winner was  Russell Nicholls 34.

In the NTP’s Col Solway won the 2nd /11th at 1.57 metres, whilst Clayton Rogers was best on the 8th / 17th with a shot to 3.78 metres.

Balls were won by: Clayton Rogers 42, David Walters 35, Jeff Harrington 35, Brad Hockley 35, Russell Nicholls 34, Simon Groom 33, Geoff Iliffe 33, Tony O’Neill 33, Phil McGuirk 33, Jim Elder 32, Brenan Reeves 31 and Adam Russell 31.

On Sunday June 26 the last round of the Masters Pennant was played against Kurri at Scone.

Scone had a narrow win 4 to 3 and ½, wins were had by Jeff Harrington 1 up; Warren Styles 4&2; Ross Banks 4&2 and Mick Alsleben 2&1.

On Saturday July 2, the Monthly Mug for the Scone RSL Group Trophy and Round 2 of the Winter Cup will be played.

 

Last Thursday at Scone Golf Course the ladies played an 18 Hole Stroke for the District Medal and it was Noreen Marshall’s Trophy.

The course was heavy and with water in all the hazards, many of the players found it difficult.

Kerry McLennan continued her good run of form to have 74 nett and further reduce her handicap.

Lyn Banks was the runner up with a solid round of 76 nett to beat Fiona Groom on a countback.

Balls went to those players and Joan Shaw 77 and visitor Sharon Constable 78.

Gael Holland collected the NTP on the 17th hole.

 

Next Thursday June 30, the ladies will play the Foursomes Championships over 18 holes followed by the 5th Monthly Medal and Melanie’s Jewellers Trophy on July 7.

 

In tournament news Sue Watts and Lyn Banks did very well to finish runners up in the Hunter River District Foursomes played at Stonebridge on Tuesday June 20 in very windy conditions. Lyn finished 5th in the district championship the day prior, two shots behind the leaders at Hunter Valley Golf Course, and won a stableford prize.
