20150826Golf01LAST Thursday at Scone Golf Course it was a bitter start to the day.

After the frost there was a window of pleasant weather before the wind set in.

This made golf difficult for the ladies playing the 18 Hole Foursomes Championships.

A good field contested the event and the champions at the end of the day were Ann Cameron and Sue Watts who had 95.

They were also winners of the Trish Dunnill and Diane Taylor Trophy for the best nett score with 77 ½.

The runners up were Wendy Clift and Julie Leckie seven shots behind.

In Division 2 Doon MacCallum and Kathy Robinson won with 108, and this also gained them runners up in the nett event.

Runners up in Division 2 were Noreen Marshall and Joan Shaw. Balls went to: Ann Cameron and Sue Watts 77 ½; Doon MacCallum and Kathy Robinson 80; Lyn Banks and Annie Woods 80 ½; Wendy Clift and Julie Leckie 82 ½; Noreen Marshall and Joan Shaw 83 nett.

On Thursday, July 7, the 5th GNSW and Monthly Medal for the Melanie’s Jewellers Trophy will be played.

On Saturday, July 2 the men contested an 18 Hole Stroke / Stableford for the Scone RSL Group Monthly Mug.

A very good field turned out on a pleasant winter day.

The winner of the Mug was Brad Hockley who had 69 nett.

The A Grade winner was Mick Alsleben with 37 points to beat Ross Banks on a countback. C Grade was won by Russell Nicholls with 32 points.

Balls went to Brad Hockley 39, Mick Alsleben, Ross Banks 37, Tony O’Neill, Alan Wood 36, Andrew Black (vis), Mick Davidson, Clayton Rogers, Troy Collison 35, Jim Elder, Jeff Harrington 34, Charlie Manning, Brenan Reeves 33, Ben Cassidy (vis), George Davidson and David Druce 32 c/b.

On the 2nd / 11th the closest shot was by Jim Elder 1.63 metres and on the 8th / 17th by George Davidson at 5.85 metres.

After round 2 of the Winter Cup Brad Hockley was the winner with 75 points followed by Tony O’Neill and Troy Collison on 71.

On Saturday, July 9 the men will play an 18 Hole Stableford for the Gary Taylor and Geoff Barton Trophy, and it will also be round 1 of the R. J. Lowrie Cup.

Players are reminded that Round 3 of the Kevans Knockout needs to be played by this Saturday.

The Holden Scramble has been rescheduled to Saturday, September 3 with entries and payment to be finalised by Saturday, August 20.
