ON Saturday May 28 at Scone Golf Course it was a bleak day for the field as they contested an 18 Hole Stableford for the G & E Wilkinson Plumbing Services Trophy.

Morning and afternoon players got wet, with some not completing their round.

The best score of the day was by Tim Smith who had a very good round of 40 points.

The sponsor’s generosity also provided three grade prizes to be distributed in each grade.

  • A Grade: Clayton Rogers 39, Joel Woods 35, Merv Herbert 32.
  • B Grade: Tim Smith 40, Michael Davidson 39, Matt Langan 36.
  • C Grade: Adam Russell 36, Neil Clydsdale 36, Red Palmer 35.

Ball winners were the above players and Guy Wilkinson 37, Kevin Thompson 33, Adrian Fuller 33, Geoff Barton 33, David Druce 33 and Andy Phelps 32 on a countback.

The NTP on the 2nd / 11th was won by Steve Morse 2.51 metres and on the 8th / 17th Brad Hockley won with 1.74 metres.

On Sunday May 29 the Masters Pennant team travelled to Merewether in round 4 of the series.

The best performed was Warren Styles who had a square. Next week they host Kurri with a 9:30am start.

On Saturday June 4 the Scone RSL Group Monthly Mug will be played as an 18 Hole Stroke / Stableford.

The ladies event was deferred last Thursday as rain deterred the field.

On Thursday June 2 the 4th GNSW and Monthly Medal for the Melanie’s Jewellers Trophy will be played.

The Foursomes Championship will be played on June 9 over 18 holes.

A number of players will head to Tamworth to play in the North, North West District Golf Association annual event over 2 days on June 7 and 8.

One of the most popular events of the year, the Holden Scramble, will be held at Scone on June 18.

It is a closed event for Scone members only, so players need to organise their teams which can be any combination of men and lady players, with some handicap restrictions.
