Scone Golf: May 5 – 7

IT was an ideal day for golf on Thursday, May 5 when the ladies at Scone played the third Golf NSW and Monthly Medal round.

Lyn Banks took advantage of the well prepared course and had a fine round of 79 for 69 nett to win the medal and Melanie’s Jewellers Trophy.

The runner up was Kathy Robinson who had a very good 71 nett.

The NTP’s were on the 2nd / 11th in 3 divisions.

Sue Watts’ shot to 4.6 metres won her a ball and when she rolled in the birdie putt, another 4 balls from the birdie box!

In Division 3 Annie Woods won a ball with a shot to 8.2 metres, while the Division 2 players missed out.

Ball winners were: Lyn Banks 40, Kathy Robinson 38, Jo Brown and Sue Watts both on 34 points on a countback.

In the final round of the HRDGA Pennants the team will play Branxton at Muswellbrook on May 9.

On Thursday, May 12, the ladies will play an 18 Hole Stableford for the Ruby’s Girl Trophy.

It was another superb day for golf on Saturday May 7, when the men played for the Scone RSL Group Monthly Mug.

The 18 Hole Stroke / Stableford event was well supported and the mug winner was Ross Banks who had 68 nett.

This included the NTP on the 2nd / 11th when his tee shot landed at 0.32 metres which also won him 4 balls for the jackpot.

Grade prizes were won by Wayne Hedley in B Grade with 39 points and by Adam Russell in C Grade with 38 points.

The NTP on the 8th / 17th was won by Mick Reynolds 1.75 metres.

Ball went to: Ross Banks 40, Wayne Hedley 39, Adam Russell 38, Mick Reynolds, Mark Hayes, Warren Styles, Damien Collison, Geoff Barton 36, George Davidson, Scott Reid 35, Red Palmer, George Campbell, Rod Spratt 34, Andy Phelps, John Murray, Mick Alsleben, Geoff Ferguson and Tony O’Neill all on 33 points.

In the ladies 18 Hole Stableford Lyn Banks had the best score with another solid round of 34 points.

On Saturday and Sunday, May 14 and 15, the players have a choice of playing on either day due to the racing carnival.

The 18 Hole Stableford is for the Scott Shann and Graham Brown Trophy and presentation will be at 5pm Sunday.

Also on Sunday, May 15, the second round of the Masters Pennant will be played at Scone against Toronto.
