One of the last championship events for the season was played on Sunday at Scone Golf Course with the 18 Hole Mixed Foursomes being contested.

In difficult windy conditions the scratch winners were Ross and Lyn Banks who had 78 to win their fifth title together.

The runners up were Scott Reid and Judy Carmody with 88.

Scott and Judy won the nett event with 66, three shots ahead of Ross and Lyn.

The ball winners were both those pairs and Simon and Fiona Groom on 71 ½ nett.

On Saturday, November 5 at Scone the men golfers played an 18 Hole Stroke / Stableford Scone RSL Group Monthly Mug, and it was also the playoff for the Mug of Mugs.

Again in extremely windy conditions the winner was Geoff Ferguson who had a fabulous 66 nett to win his first Monthly Mug.

The grade winners were Clayton Rogers in A Grade with 36 points and Troy Collison in B Grade with 41 points.

Troy’s round also clearly won him the Mug of Mugs with a score of 68 nett.

In the NTP’s Sandy Lettice won the 2nd / 11th with 2.74 metres and Mick Alsleben won the 8th / 17th with 2.82 metres.

Ball winners were: Geoff Ferguson 42, Col Solway, Troy Collison 41, George Campbell 40, Paul Smart 38, Tom Thompson 37, Alan Wood, Clayton Rogers, David Adams, Les Cottam 36, Scott Reid, Simon Groom, Red Palmer 34 and Justin Smart 33 on a countback.

On Saturday, November 12 the event will be an 18 Hole Stableford for Noel Leckie and James Archibald’s trophy.

In the Kevan’s Knockout the final stage has been reached and will be between Wayne Hedley and Jake Teague.

On Thursday, November 3, it was pleasant day for golf at Scone for the ladies to play an 18 Hole Stableford for the Jo Brown Trophy.

Ann Cameron had a super round of 44 points to be the clear winner.

Annie Woods’ 40 points was welcome return for her time spent on the practise area, and this enabled her to be runner up on a countback from Lyn Banks.

On a course with increasing run the scores were very good and balls went to Ann Cameron 44, Annie Woods 40, Lyn Banks 40, Kathy Robinson 38 and Jo Brown 37 on a countback from Noreen Marshall.

The NTP on the 17th was won by Lyn Banks while Wendy Clift with a fantastic shot which went very close to holing out on the 2nd claimed the birdie box of 4 balls.

Ann and Lyn needed to produce very good golf to narrowly win their semi-final matches over Sarah Brooks and Pam Manning respectively, and progress to the final of the Peter and Marg Marshall Knockout.

On Thursday, November 10 the ladies will play an 18 Hole Stableford for the Royal Hotel Trophy.

Over thirty players headed out for the Wednesday Red Tee Challenge on November 2.

With players’ handicaps being adjusted up when they don’t win, high scores are becoming the norm.

This week 1st was Troy Collison 27 points on a countback from Col Solway, and newcomer Shane Power finished 3rd on 26 points.

The annual Presentation Night is on Saturday, December 3 for men and ladies and tickets will be available shortly.
