Scone Golf: Oct 27 and 29

IT was an ideal day for golf at Scone on Thursday for the ladies Medal of Medals playoff.

Narelle Rutter blitzed the field with a fantastic 66 nett to win the playoff and also the Melanie’s Jewellers daily prize.

Runner up in both was Lyn Banks who had 71 nett.

Balls went to Narelle Rutter 66, Lyn Banks 71, Fiona Groom 74, Noreen Marshall 75 and Ann Cameron 77 on a countback.

Fiona Groom was closest on the 17th to win the NTP.

On Thursday, November 3 the ladies will play an 18 Hole Stableford for Jo Brown’s trophy.

In men’s golf last Saturday the event was an 18 Hole Stableford for the Scott Lye and Trevor Wilson Trophies.

On a warm day Jim Elder had a great score of 42 points to be the overall winner.

Grade prizes went to A Grade, David Walters 38 points, B Grade, Paul Smart 39 points and C Grade, Col Solway 40 points on a countback from George Campbell .

In the NTP’s Scott Shann won the 2nd / 11th with 2.24 metres and Steve Morse won the 8th / 17th with 3.20 metres.

Ball winners were: Jim Elder 42, Col Solway, George Campbell 40, Paul Smart, Tom Thompson 39, Tony Pringle, David Walters 38 and Ross Banks 37 points.

In the popular Wednesday Red Tee Challenge Sam Casson was 1st with 28 points whilst 2nd and 3rd places were equal on 27 points for George Campbell and Jake Teague.

Saturday, November 5 will be an 18 Hole Stroke / Stableford Scone RSL Group Monthly Mug, and also the playoff for the Mug of Mugs.

On Sunday the men and ladies will combine for the interesting Mixed Foursomes Championship played over 18 holes.

Major events for both ladies and men’s golf are concluding with only the knockouts and the matchplay championships to be finalised.

Players should be reserving the date of December 3 for the annual Presentation Night.
