THE Hunter River District ladies golf pennant series wrapped up at Muswellbrook on Monday, April 30. With four teams a chance of taking the shield it came down to the result of the last individual match of the day to determine the winning club. Hunter Valley Golf Club halved their match with Cessnock / Merriwa to win by a point from Muswellbrook who had a good win over The Vintage. The Muswellbrook club were great hosts for the final round with all players gathering at the conclusion for lunch and presentations.

The Scone team finished with a 6-0 win over Cypress Lakes to finish equal 6th. Scratch players Lyn Banks and Julie Leckie both won convincingly 5 and 4 and 4 and 3, whilst Cheryl Clydsdale won 3 and 2, Kerry McLennan 3 and 1, Narelle Rutter 2 and 1 and Annie Woods 3 and 2.

Well done to all the players who made themselves available to play, with some very early starts and a great deal of travelling involved during the season. The club looks forward to 2019 when a home match on the new course will test their opponents.

On Thursday, May 3 the 3rd monthly medal and Golf NSW medal round will be played at Muswellbrook for the Melanie’s Jewellers Trophy.

The Hunter River District mens and ladies Sandgreens Championship is approaching with the event to be held at Merriwa on Sunday, May 27. Entries may be made on the HRDGA website.
