Scone Golf Club enjoyed its second week of competition which saw strong fields for both  Thursday 06 June and Saturday 08 June events with everyone very keen to explore and enjoy the new course, good weather conditions enticing us all out with golf clubs in hand.

The lady members played their first Melanie’s Jewellers Monthly Medal Trophy event on Thursday which attracted 13 members and one visiting player. It was fabulous to see four sisters take to the field to enjoy a family friendly,  but  I am sure also  competitive match, with Cheryl Clydsdale, Pam Manning, Ann Cameron and Joy Nelson (visiting from Russel Vale Club) all teeing off together.

Our Melanie’s Jewellers June Monthly Medal was won by Jodie Hinde who is proving hard to beat with a terrific nett of  72, runner up Cheryl Clydsdale with 76 on a count back from Jo Brown and Pam Manning.

Ball winners were Cheryl Clydsdale nett 76, Jo Brown nett  76, Pam Manning nett  76, Narelle Rutter nett 79 and Vonnie Palmer nett  81. The ladies are still to conquer the par 3’s with no nearest the pin as yet!

On Saturday a good field of 49 players with 5 visitors competed for a single stableford event sponsored by Curtis Gant Betts solicitors.  It was superb conditions for golf, but some interesting pin placements made scoring difficult.   Only two players made 36 points or better so the new course definitely won the day.

Winner of A Grade with  a great score of 39 points was Matt O’Donnell. Mac Dawson made 35 to be the runner up.  Winner of B grade with 36 points was Glen Tarrant from George Davison on 34 pts. Winner of C grade was Geoff Barton with 35 points from Tony Pringle on 34pts.

Nearest the pin on 8/17 was James Smart and nearest the pin on 4/13 was Glen Tarrant.

Balls were won by: Matt O’Donnell 39, Glen Tarrant 36, Geoff Barton, Mac Dawson, Will O’Donnell 35, George Davidson, Adam Moore, Tony Pringle, Brenan Reeves, Paul Smart, David O’Donnell, John Roe 34, Tim Cameron (Visitor), Neil Clydsdale and Kevin Thompson with 33 points on a countback.
