IT was a perfect day for golf and the Scone ladies returned some very good scores on Thursday, June 16.
Judy Carmody was the winner with 38 points and Joan Shaw was runner up one point behind in the Royal Hotel trophy for the stableford event.
Balls went to those two players and to Jo Brown, Noreen Marshall and Lyn Banks all on 35, and Pam Manning 33 points. Sarah Brooks landed the best shot on the 17th to win the nearest the pin.
On Thursday, June 23 the event will be an 18 Hole Stroke for the District Medal and it is Noreen Marshall’s trophy.
The ladies will contest the Foursomes Championships on June 30 in the rain deferred event.
On Saturday, June 18 in overcast conditions, the deferred June Monthly Mug was played.
A good field turned out with new member Adam Brayshaw having a great start to his golf at Scone with 70 nett to win on a countback from Ross Higham.
The A Grade winner was Brenan Reeves 36 points, and the C Grade winner Les Cottam also had 36 points.
The ball winners were: Ross Higham, Adam Brayshaw 38, Troy Collison, Les Cottam, Brenan Reeves, Brad Hockley and Clayton Rogers 36, Glen Tarrant, Tony O’Neill 35, Kallen Brownlee, Justin Smart, Russell Nicholls 34, Gordon Halliday, Geoff Barton 33, Tom Thompson and Scott Reid 32 on a countback.
The nearest the pins were both won with jackpots, (inside a metre).
Stuart Dawson was the closest on the 2nd / 11th with 0.79 metres to collect an extra 5 balls, and Brad Hockley got 12 balls on the 8th / 17th for his shot to 0.90 metres.
In the ladies 18 Hole Stableford Kerry McLennan had her personal best round of golf to have 40 points and reduce her handicap further.
Lyn Banks was narrowly behind with 38 points.
On Saturday, June 25 the men will play an 18 Hole Stableford for the Tony Bowd and Mark Hayes Trophy and the men will host Kurri in the Masters Pennant on Sunday June 26.
The Holden Scramble was deferred due to insufficient teams to ensure a qualifier to the next round and a new date is being sought.
