Scone Golf: Sept 8 – 10

ON Saturday, September 10 at Scone Golf Course an 18 Hole Stableford for the O’Donnell Family Trophy was played.

The course was again heavy but this didn’t affect visitor Simon Wilkinson who had a great round of 43 points to be the winner.

The NTP on the 2nd / 11th was won by Tommy Thompson.

His shot finished at 0.85 metres and this also gained Tommy a jackpot of 8 balls. On the 8th / 17th Jeff Harrington was the winner with 2.06 metres.

Balls were won by: Simon Wilkinson 43, Tony Bowd 40, Jeff Harrington 37, Clayton Rogers, Alan Wood 36, Wayne Hedley 35, John Roe, Phil McGuirk 34, Steve Morse 33, Adrian Fuller, Simon Groom, Adam Russell 32 and Glen Tarrant 31 points.

In the ladies 18 Hole Stableford Kerry McLennan continued her good form with 37 points to be the winner.

On Thursday, September 8 the Scone lady golfers played a 2B Stableford for the 2 M’s Trophy, donated by Marie Murray and Margie Hart, with an individual in conjunction.

Kathy Robinson and Narelle Rutter teamed well to have 41 points and win the day.

They just edged out Judy Carmody and Sarah Brooks who had 40 points. Kathy also won the NTP o the 17th.

Balls went to Kathy Robinson, Narelle Rutter, Pam Manning, Ann Cameron and Sarah Brooks.

On Thursday September 15 the ladies will again attempt to play the Golf NSW qualifying round of the 4BBB Par event for the Cheryl Clydsdale and Ann Cameron Trophy.

There will also be an individual in conjunction for Sarah Howey’s Trophy.

On Saturday, September 17 and Sunday September 18 one of the major events for the Scone Golf Club will be held with the playing of the Scone Open.

The Hunter Valley Printing Cup will be played for on Saturday by mixed pairs as a FBBB Scratch Stableford and a FBBB Stableford. There is also a FBBB Stableford for men’s pairings.

On Sunday the men’s events will be held.

The A. J. White Cup for the best scratch score, and the Bob Robb Cup for the best stableford score are the main trophies.

There will also be extra NTP and long drive prizes along with great grade prizes.

A fun day is scheduled for all on Saturday, September 24.

It is the Jason Whitehead Memorial Day and a 2B Multiplier Stableford for men and ladies in any combination will be played for the Whitehead Family Trophy.

There will be an individual in conjunction.

To add to the day it will be the “Fashions On The Course” theme for Gordon Halliday’s and Phil McGuirk’s awards.

In other news Ross and Lyn Banks travelled to Victor Harbor to play in the South Australian Senior Championships played over 3 rounds.

Ross won the men’s nett event in a field of over 70, and Lyn completed the double with the nett prize for the ladies event.

In local Open Days a number of ladies will be heading to Nelson Bay for their two day event next week and to Branxton for their open day, and in the following weeks to Merriwa and Hunter Valley Golf Club for each of their annual events.
