Save the Date:

Saturday, August 27 has been the date set to hold our annual fundraising night!

It was also decided to encourage more senior players to get behind this that we will incorporate the senior presentation with this.

All trophies will be awarded on the evening with the exception of winners and runners up of course.

All junior coaches and parents are also encouraged to join us on what will be a great evening.

Local band, “crippled chickens” have been booked to entertain us on what will be a great evening.

The event will take place at the Royal Hotel where the back area will be closed off for this private function.

Cost and more details will follow later this week so now is the time to start organising babysitters, outfits and of course your team members and partners.

Junior players who play in senior teams are welcome to attend.

Donation of raffle prizes have already started to be collected, one of the major prizes so far is a Fishing Kayak!

If you know of anyone willing to donate a prize, please let Paula or Kim know.

All money raised goes back into the club.

Small Shield York Cup Carnival

Members of the Scone under 11’s team who played at Tamworth on the weekend.

Last weekend, we had Phoebe Cox, Ozzie Cameron, Nick Gallagher, Zoe Gallagher, Lottie Firth, Harriett Firth, Lizzy Ray, Georgie Pratley, Lily Kenah, Noah Salter, Archie Crowe, Millie Crowe, Camilla Warner, Emma Henry and Violet Dawson head to Tamworth to compete in the U11 Kim Small Shield/York Cup Carnival.

A record number of teams were entered this year with 45 in total. Scone played for the York Cup and all games were played on turf.

Playing against some very skilled turfed teams did not at all deter our kids, it made them more determined to show these teams that playing on grass is not such a disadvantage as it brings the best out in them.

On Friday they came away with a win against Newcastle2 1 nil, loss against Coffs Coast 2-0 and a nil all draw against Tamworth Orange.

On Saturday they had a 2 nil loss to Grafton 2 and a nil all draw with Tamworth Green.

Saturday afternoon and Sunday seen semi playoffs and finals, again playing well and never backed down.

Scone finished 3rd in their pool and 7th overall with a total of 22 of the 45 teams playing for the York Cup.

A thank you to Kim Parkinson, Wayne Cox and Kate Gallagher for taking the team.

Round 10 Washout Games

At last Thursday’s meeting it was decided that washed out round 10 will be played on Sunday, August 7.

This will be the case for both men’s and women’s.

This weekend will see the women’s team playing for double points to make up washed out round 8.

All teams have agreed to this to save playing the same team again on Sunday morning.

The men’s draw for round 8 will be played on Saturday, August 13.
