Scone Leads Easter Sales

UPPER Hunter horses are leading the field after day one of the Inglis Easter sales with Bhima Stud claiming top vendor on aggregate selling eight horses for $3.1 million and Segenhoe Stud was leading vendor on average, selling four horses at an average of $726,000.

Local farm Turangga also did well, selling two horses which averaged $275,000.

The top selling horse was a filly by Redoute’s Choice which stands at Arrowfield making $1.8 million; the filly was by dam Court and a half-sister to group one filly English.

The second highest selling horse was a colt by I Am Invincible which Segenhoe Stud sold for $1.6 million.

In total there were four horses on the first day which sold for $1million or more.

The leading buyer was James Harron who bought three horses and paid $3.4 million and the leading buyer on numbers of horses was Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott who brought six horses for $1.4 million.

Johnathon D’Arcy, director of bloodstock for Inglis said day one yielded great results and set the tone for the rest of the three day sale.

“It’s been a great result, we are very happy with day one and we are well up on last year,” said Mr D’Arcy.

“The average was up 19 percent on last year, the median is up 43 percent, the gross is slightly down because there were less horses sold and there was 80 percent clearance which is outstanding,” Johnathon D’Arcy said.
