There was 985 cattle penned this week, a few less than what was drawn for due to rain yesterday afternoon.

The market was very strong and dearer in places for certain descriptions.

Not a lot of export cattle were penned, cows were very strong once again and sold for fully firm rates.

The majority of the yarding was made up of yearling and weaner cattle which sold for very strong rates.

The lighter weaners were fully firm however, the yearling cattle heavier weights 300kg to 350kg for both steers and heifers were 10 to 15 cents dearer.

Butcher and grain fed cattle had a good offering on hand which sold for firm rates, very few heavy feeders were penned.

A handful of cows and calves were on offer which sold from $1400 to $1700.
