Scone Stock Report: July 26

Filed in Recent News by July 26, 2016

By Stuart Sheldrake.

TODAY was one of the strongest markets for store cattle ever seen in Scone.

There were only 590 cattle yarded.

There were were very few cows penned with fat cows selling to firm rates while store cows sold to dearer trends.

The majority of the yarding was predominantly yearling restockers both steers and heifers and some good grain fed fat cattle as well.

Grain fed cattle were 15 to 20 cents dearer, with the tops of those making up to $3.70 a kilo.

Light weight weaners were 10 to 15 cents dearer, with very few yarded.

Yearling steers were 10 cents dearer, whilst yearling heifers were 20 cents dearer.

The handful of feeder steers sold to very strong rates.

The lack of numbers throughout the country kept the market strong and with the weather, the season is now looking very good for the whole eastern seaboard.
