THE yarding was bigger today with 1423 cattle.20160517AngusCow

This was probably due to the weather with people not being able to get their cattle in during the last couple of weeks and we’ve seen a bit of a build up.

The market was cheaper for most trends, especially compared to the exceptional market last week, so it is probably back to where it was two or three weeks ago.

Export cattle were limited in supply, milk and two tooth heavy steers made up to $3.20; selling overall probably 5 to 8 cents cheaper.

Heavy and light cows were 10 to 15 cents cheaper across the board.

The best pen of cows made to $2.76.

The majority of the yard was made up of good quality trade finished cattle, along with weaner and yearling cattle.

Finished trade cattle sold to strong rates but overall were probably 5 cents cheaper.

A large portion of the yard was made up of weaner cattle.

Heifer portions sold quite well and were probably only 5 to 10 cents cheaper; however the steer portion sold 15 to 20 cents cheaper.

The yearling portion were ten to 15 cents cheaper.
