A big yarding of 2225 cattle here today due to the week off last week, a good number of export cattle were on offer with approximately 400 cows and bullocks.

There were not many bulls to quote with the majority of the yard made up of weaner and yearling cattle with a sprinkling of good finished vealers.

There was a handful of grain calves and a handful of feeder type cattle.

Cows were five to eight cents softer with one buyer out of the market.

The general consensus across the board was that your good calves were probably eight to ten cents cheaper and secondary lines ten to 15 cents cheaper.

Considering how many cattle were there the market is still very solid and holding up but definitely softer across the board due to numbers.

Next week we can expect the numbers to be back to normal of about 1100 or 1200.

There is a Speckle Park stud sale of 100 lots this Saturday May 6 at 11am and 1pm with a good array of buyers and a good lot of cattle.
