Scone Court Report: Sept 2016 – Extra Court Day

Filed in Recent News by September 1, 2016

TODAY there is an extra court hearing day scheduled at Scone Local Court.

There are four months a year which have five weeks and since the court system is run on a monthly four week basis it means there is an extra four weeks throughout the year when Magistrates can schedule extra hearing days to some courts.

Magistrate Roger Prowse, who presides at Scone Local Court said for better or worse the Scone court had more matters requiring hearing.

“Clearly there is sufficient work there to have extra sittings and whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing is a two edged sword,” said Magistrate Prowse.

“But if there is work to be done there, then Scone is as entitled to have resources allocated to it as is Quirindi, as is Tamworth,” he said.

There are a total of 16 matters to be heard.

A court report will be posted later today on scone.com.au.
