HATS from around the world were donned by local children as part of the 16th National Simultaneous Storytime today.

Sharon Bancroft, library assistant at Scone and Upper Hunter Library had to become a woman of many hats to create and source hats for the story “I got this hat”, written by Jol and Kate Temple.

Paul Russell wore the viking hat, as Pattie Molyneux read the story "I Got This Hat".

As Pattie Molyneux read the story, each hat was modeled by a local child, with the viking stealing the show.

Treah Hanley who is five years old said storytime was nice.

“I liked the first book when the snorkeler came,” said Treah.

Isabelle Love, who is four said she preferred the second book, which was also about hats.

“I liked the book when his hat changed when he was happy and good,” said Isabelle.

Pattie Molyneux said she was a little daunted to read a story to more than 270 children adding it was a while since she had run a classroom.

“I actually had a lot of fun reading the story,” said Ms Molyneux.

“We had a meeting with the children wearing the hats and they were really enthusiastic, with plenty of ideas for how to put it together,” she said.

“Sharon was fantastic though sorting out all of the hats,” Pattie Molyneux said.
