Rob made the trip from his home in Armidale, with wife Sally and grandson Nick, to attend the Roads and Maritime Services consultation on the bypass.

“I’ve come to have a look at the proposed bypass and understand what the local community wants,” said Mr Taber.

“The community has to live with these things, so it is important that government and communities work together to get the ideal solution,” he said.

“There is a very similar situation in Tenterfield at the other end of this massive electorate, where as a community they are trying to work out where they want a bypass and if they want it,” he said.

“It’s the community that has to live with these things and we have to make sure it will work.

“But communities can usually get what they want, if they have the numbers,” Rob Taber said.

Barnaby Joyce was also spotted in town recently at the Golden Fleece.
