There were 15 students and eight steers representing the school and Lisa Bright, the agricultural teacher at St Joseph’s said it was a great experience.

“We did the school steer and open steer competition and all of our cattle come from local producers,” said Ms Bright.

“The Doug Robertson steer got a 5th and the Neville Cameron steer was highly commended,” she said.

“In the Stan Hill trophy, each breed group selects their three best steers and those three best steers then when their carcass results come out they add all their carcass points together and then they work out which breed group got the highest carcass score and we had two out of the three Poll Herefords were from St Joseph’s, which is really good,” Lisa Bright said.

The St Joseph’s team are grateful for their regular sponsors who provide steers including Elite Poll Herefords, Neville Cameron and Doug Robertson.

More results from the show will be out next Saturday.
