THE State Rugby Union Junior Championship 15´s and 16´s were held in Scone over the weekend culminating on Sunday afternoon with the finals.

In the 15`s Central West were victors over Central Coast 21 to 14 while in the 16´s Central Coast had a win over Hunter 21 to 3.

Event co-ordinator Michelle Edwards was very pleased with the way the weekend went.

“It was a great weekend with really, really good rugby played” said Ms Edwards.

Scone was put on show with Michelle and her team working on 800 people attending and needing services of the Scone community.

“It is a great way to show the town, all the restaurants, clubs and pubs were full last night” said Michelle Edwards.

The selectors for NSW Country junior Rugby Union had a tough job selecting just 40 boys for each age group from across all the teams for the initial squad which will be reduced to 23 for the Sydney Regional Carnival on July 16 and 17.

Coach for the 15´s Raymond Bowden was impressed with the rugby played and Scone as a host.

“The rugby was at a high standard and played in the correct spirit, the carnival was sensational and Scone did a wonderful job” said Mr Bowden.
